Do not choose the Denza D9, XPeng X9 or Zeekr 009 from a China-market feature list. First freeze the destination, model year, trim and homologation basis. Then compare usable seats with luggage, payload, charging inlet and power, route energy, software/language, connected services, warranty, parts, diagnostics and unit-level documents. If the supplier cannot tie those facts to the exact vehicles, the shortlist is not ready for an order.
1. Define the passenger duty before naming an MPV
Airport transfer, hotel shuttle, executive transport, family retail and corporate fleet duty create different requirements. Record passenger count, child-seat or accessibility needs, luggage per passenger, daily distance, dwell time, climate, road quality, depot power and driver routine. A seven-seat brochure does not prove seven adults plus airport luggage fit safely.
| Duty | First constraint | Evidence to request |
|---|---|---|
| Airport shuttle | Seats plus full luggage | Measured luggage test with occupied rows and payload calculation |
| Hotel / executive | Second-row access, comfort, downtime | Door, aisle, HVAC, support and replacement-vehicle plan |
| Family retail | Child restraints, everyday charging, local features | ISOFIX positions, market manual, port and software demonstration |
| Corporate fleet | Repeatable cost and service | Energy route test, warranty, diagnostics, parts and training scope |
2. Freeze the destination-market version
Use the official specification for the exact destination whenever one exists. The XPeng X9 illustrates why: current official Australia data specifies CCS2, seven seats, version-specific battery, range, payload and charging figures; other regional pages can show different dimensions or equipment. Denza’s official D9 market sheet likewise separates FWD/AWD equipment and approval assumptions. A China domestic trim, European trim and Gulf trim are not interchangeable evidence.
- Manufacturer, model year, trim and production month.
- Destination approval basis and conformity documents.
- Charging inlet, onboard AC charger and DC protocol.
- Display language, maps, app, eSIM/SIM and OTA region.
- Warranty territory, service tooling and parts channel.
3. Measure seats, luggage and payload together
Ask for a physical load demonstration using the selected seat layout. Record usable third-row access, seat travel, aisle width, luggage length/height, spare-wheel or charging-cable storage and door clearance. Then add occupants, bags, accessories and any mobility equipment against the market-specific payload. Do not compare cargo volume numbers measured under different seat positions.
| Model family | Why it enters a shortlist | Do not assume |
|---|---|---|
| Denza D9 | Multiple-market MPV presence with EV/PHEV variants depending on market | Powertrain, equipment and warranty are the same everywhere |
| XPeng X9 | Official export specifications provide seven-seat, charging and luggage data | Peak charge power or quoted luggage volume applies under every condition |
| Zeekr 009 | Premium MPV architecture and multiple seating/market possibilities | China-market connected services or trim content operate at destination |
4. Model charging against the route, not the peak number
Convert the official test-cycle consumption and usable battery information into a route scenario with passengers, HVAC, traffic, temperature and reserve. Record depot supply, connector, charger power sharing, overnight window, public-network availability and contingency. Peak DC power is a capability under qualifying conditions, not the charging rate that a driver will see throughout a session.
Use the Chinese EV charging compatibility guide to check the destination connector and network. For a fleet, request a monitored charge session on the exact market version and retain start/end state of charge, charger ID, temperature and time.
5. Compare the support boundary dealers will actually own
Write down who handles warranty authorization, high-voltage work, collision parts, glass, body panels, tires, keys, diagnostic software and connected-service faults. Verify workshop training, tool access, remote technical support, parts lead time and the conditions that can suspend warranty. A fleet should also define the process for immobilized vehicles.
Software belongs in the acceptance test. Demonstrate every required language, navigation and app function at destination or under a clearly documented regional setup. Treat assisted-driving features as market-dependent; verify legal availability and the exact user manual rather than promising a China-market function.
6. Build one comparable RFQ and pre-shipment pack
Issue the same request to every supplier: destination, quantity, duty, seat layout, luggage target, powertrain, port, range test cycle, payload, climate, approval, software, warranty, parts and delivery timing. Require the response to name the exact version and source.
Release gate: before balance or shipment, use the pre-shipment inspection checklist to connect VIN, order, charging, functions, condition and documents. “Same as brochure” is not unit acceptance evidence.
If a passenger MPV is not the real requirement, use the Chinese electric cargo-van guide. Keep cargo payload and passenger-shuttle intent in separate procurement tracks.
Request a destination-ready MPV shortlist
Send the country, passenger and luggage duty, daily route, depot power, quantity and required delivery timing. We can structure the comparable model and evidence request.
Request a sourcing reviewFrequently asked questions
Which Chinese electric MPV is best?
There is no universal winner. Choose from the exact market versions after defining duty, payload, charging, software, service and approval.
Can seven passengers travel with airport luggage?
Only a measured seat-and-luggage test plus payload calculation can prove it for the chosen configuration.
Should a shuttle fleet choose EV or PHEV?
Compare route energy, depot charging, public fallback, fuel access, maintenance and the exact market offering. Do not decide from powertrain labels alone.
Will China-market apps and OTA work abroad?
Do not assume so. Verify language, account, SIM, cloud, maps, OTA and assisted-driving availability for the destination version.
What belongs in the dealer order?
Record exact trim, model year, configuration, port, approval documents, accessories, warranty, parts, software and unit-level inspection evidence.
